This series was made during the Atina 2014 Residency in Italy. I am exploring here another camera less photography technique: cyanotypes.I decided to map the field behind our temporary home. The process involved going out at noon and exposing the paper to the sun. The flowers are carefully inserted through a cut in the paper; they are not cut or brought to the studio.

The next day, the very large field was completely emptied, all the flowers cut in order to build a new house.

The flowers are “Queen Anne’s Lace”, a very common flower in Europe and North America. This follows my interest of bringing attention to the overlooked, to find balance and connection with life through its most simple moments and objects.
